A recent wedding marked a brand-new record for the number of guests illustrated in a single evening. Between the drinks reception and dinner, I captured around 82 guests on paper, ranging from the youngest children to the adults.
I began sketching immediately after the ceremony while my assistant managed the guest list and organised everyone into their respective groups for reference photos. It is from these photos that the final illustrations are carefully created.
Unfortunately, the Swiss weather decided to challenge us that day. While drawing outdoors during the reception, we experienced severe winds. This impacted my efficiency significantly, as even brushes and materials would blow away if not held down securely. Fortunately, since the bride and groom had generously provided a hotel room for the night, I was able to complete the missing illustrations after the main festivities concluded. By breakfast the next morning, the elegant box containing the completely illustrated wedding society was ready for delivery.
